Norma Wilson

Norma Jean Estel Wilson, 86, of Fairmont, passed away at 1:57 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 19, 2013) at her residence with members of her family holding her hands.

She was born July 27, 1926, in Garrison, Pa., a daughter of the late Albert Ray and Nannie May Taylor Estel.

She was preceded in death on Aug. 30, 2007, by her husband, Aubrey Benjiman Wilson, whom she married July 1, 1951.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Allen Blain and Debra Minor Wilson of Fairmont; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Jean Wilson and husband Alfred Mulzet of San Jose, Calif.; three granddaughters, Jennifer Blair Wilson and her fiancé Tommy Hartlieb of Kinston, N.C., Laura Alanna Ross and her husband Peter of Raleigh, N.C., and Sarah Jean Mulzet of San Jose, Calif.; and a sister, Grace Lucille Estel of Asheville, N.C.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Estel.

Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and faithful member of Central United Methodist Church of Fairmont, where she volunteered at the church’s Food Pantry, and was a member of the Mary Martha Circle and of the Young At Heart Program. She was a graduate of Hundred High School. Norma was a member of the Fairmont Woman’s Club, where she enjoyed being a part of the Garden Club and Civic Club. Mrs. Wilson loved traveling, having visited all 50 states and traveling abroad to Europe.

Norma was a cancer survivor and was an active participant with Relay for Life. She was a devoted and loving grandmother, mother and friend. She will be missed by those who love her more than words can express.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice Care Corp., and the Rev. Hal Hevener and members and staff of Central United Methodist Church for all their love and support.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Hal Hevener officiating. The entombment service will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery & Mausoleum, Fairmont.
