Jane Blanche Conard Lindsay

Jane Blanche Conard Lindsay, 86, of Fairmont, died peacefully at her residence on Thursday (Dec. 20, 2012).

She was born March 10, 1926, in Burlington, N.J., a daughter of the late Robert and Clara Rockhill Conard. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. John David Lindsay Jr.

Mrs. Lindsay was a graduate of Abington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a homemaker, dedicated to her family, and to raising her four children. She was a member of the Junior League of Fairmont.

She was an avid naturalist who especially enjoyed birding and native wildflowers. Her many outdoor activities also included swimming, cross country skiing and hiking. Mrs. Lindsay excelled in flower arranging and sharing the experience with her friends in the Green Hills Garden Club.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fairmont for more than 50 years, where she served in many capacities. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed exchanging recipes with others.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, John David Lindsay Jr., M.D.; sons, Robert Conard Lindsay and his wife Lynn Koger Lindsay of Winnemucca, Nev., and Andrew Rambo Lindsay and his wife Nancy Torok of Reno, Nev.; daughter, Becky Lindsay, M.D. and her husband Scott Pearce, M.D. of Afton, Va.; daughter-in-law, Sharon Sesler Lindsay of Morgantown; grandchildren, John D. Lindsay IV, Sarah Beth Lindsay, Jessica Lindsay and Mack Pearce; sister, Mrs. John (Carabelle) Faunce; sister-in-law, Mary Welch and her husband Marshall D. Welch Jr., D.D.S.; brother-in-law, Elmer “Bo” Rambo Lindsay, M.D., and his wife Mary Eleanor Williams Lindsay.

Mrs. Lindsay is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, John D. “Jack” Lindsay III, D.D.S.; brother, Robert Conard; and sister, Mrs. Earl (Lois) Williams.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 301 Jackson St., Fairmont, WV 26554.

Friends and family will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont on Friday from 2-8 p.m. A memorial service will be held in Mrs. Lindsay’s honor on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 301 Jackson St., Fairmont, with Rev. Elise Neal officiating.
