Valeria Ann Sigley, 64, of Fairmont, formerly of Wadestown, passed away peacefully Saturday (Dec. 29, 2012) at Fairmont General Hospital following a short illness.
She was born in Fairmont on Aug. 22, 1948, a daughter of the late Loyal Amos Shoemaker and Gertrude Oleta (Furman) Shoemaker.
Valeria was a devoted homemaker and mother. She also had worked as a cashier. She enjoyed playing bingo and socializing in her apartment community with her close friends. She was also fond of watching sports on television.
She is survived by her children: her sons, Richard Sigley and his companion Carla Devall of Philippi, and Gary Sigley and his wife Tammy of Mannington, and her daughter, Barbara Mayle of Williamsport, Pa.; and seven grandchildren, Spencer Sigley, Tiffani Sigley, R.J. Sigley, Brianna Mayle, Jennifer Mayle, Brittany Sigley and Amanda Sigley.
Also surviving are her brothers, Bill Shoemaker and his wife Marge of South Carolina, Loyal Shoemaker Jr. and his wife Diane of Morgantown, Jonny Shoemaker of Morgantown, and Donald Shoemaker and his wife Donna of Fairmont; her sisters, Neda Smallwood and her husband Eddie of Morgantown, Donna West and her husband Jim of Morgantown, Cindy Miller and her husband Brian of Florida, Christa Shoemaker of Ohio, Susie Shepard of Florida and Nancy Morgan of Arizona; several nieces and nephews; her special friends and neighbors, Brenda, Marilyn and Rusty; and her beloved pet bird, Chirpy.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, her body will be cremated. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
