Sammy Marra, 81, of Rivesville, died Saturday morning (Dec. 22, 2012) at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born in Fairmont on April 3, 1931, son of the late Antonio and Rose Savonarola Marra.
He retired from the Laborers International Union of North America and was a foreman for Pittsburgh Masonry. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Fairmont and also the Fairmont Moose Lodge No. 9.
He is survived by his son, Lenny Marra, and two grandchildren, Courtney Lynn Marra and Jeffrey Tyler Marra, all of Columbia, S.C. He is also survived by several cousins.
In addition to his parents, Sammy was preceded in death by three brothers, Felix, Richard and Anthony Marra Jr.; and one sister, Virginia Marra.
Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Father John Kevern officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. The Marion County Veterans Council will conduct military honors.
