Jeffrey Wayne Piece

Jeffrey Wayne Pierce, 46, of Fairmont, passed away at home on Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2012) in the loving arms of his wife, after a courageous 20-month battle with colon cancer.

He was born in Parkersburg on Aug. 31, 1966, the son of Lewis Frank Pierce and Beatrice Cathrine Pierce.

Jeff had a kind, loving soul who dedicated his life to his family. He was married to Kimberly Logue on Oct. 14, 2006.

They have two children, Patrick, 15, and Abigail, 7. Jeff was an avid NASCAR and football fan. He enjoyed spending his free time with his family, laughing and playing. He never met a stranger and always wore a smile.

He was a member of the Meadowdale United Methodist Church H&H Chapel in Fairmont. He was in the Navy for eight years, where he worked as an electrician. After leaving the Navy, Jeff obtained his CDL license, and before his battle with cancer began, was employed by Republic Services in Fairmont for five years.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Kimberly Pierce; his son, Patrick; and daughter Abigail; his parents, Lewis and Beatrice Pierce of Pennsboro; his brother, Lewis Frank Pierce, Jr. of Pennsboro; his sister, Patricia Hawkins of Montgomery, Ala.; his brother, Ernest Earl Pierce of Pennsboro; his sister, Mary Agnes Navarro of Parkersburg; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Jeff was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents and his mother-in-law.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Fairmont General, the VA Hospital in Clarksburg, and the wonderful nurses and staff employed at Hospice Care, for without you, we never could have gotten through these last few weeks.

At the request of Jeff, his body has been donated to the Human Gift registry at West Virginia University. He will be cremated at a later date.

A small memorial service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m., at the Meadowdale United Methodist Church H&H Chapel in Fairmont. Family and friends are welcome to attend. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the colon cancer alliance’s Blue Note Fund, in hopes that other families will not lose a loved one to this disease.
