Mary Catherine Duncil Miconi, 85, of Carolina, died Tuesday evening (Nov. 6, 2012) at Fairmont General Hospital.
She was born in Farmington on Nov. 19, 1926, daughter of the late Edward and Nellie Kuhn Duncil.
Mary was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah. She loved to cook and bake bread. She had been a cook for Head Start for 28 years and also worked as a poll worker during the elections.
She was a loving mom and grandmother, and she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much, which put a smile on her face.
She is survived by her husband, Louie R. Miconi of Carolina, to whom she had been married for 63 years. She is also survived by her daughters, Beatrice A. Henderson of Carolina and Lisa Marie (Richard) Barnard of Pennsboro.
Mary is also survived by her granddaughter and caregiver, Desiree (Joe) Bombard and family of Hutchinson and grandchildren Daniele Jones, Christopher Fazio, Matthew Fazio, Vincent Fazio and Christian Collins. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Zachary Bombard, Joshua Bombard, Gabrielle Bombard and Olivia Bombard.
She is also survived by her son-in-law, Steve Fazio of Monongah; sisters-in-law, Eva Miconi of Carolina and Helen Bonamici of Worthington; and brother-in-law, Americo S. Miconi of Alexandria, Va.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Gabriel R. Miconi; her daughter, Nancy Fazio; three brothers, Lynn, Ward and Charles Duncil; and two sisters, Agnes Rusk and Helen Berdine. She is also preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gabriel and Beatrice Miconi, whom she thought of as parents.
Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, on Saturday from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday from 1-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Father Steve Joseph as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
The Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
