Darryl Van Claybrook

Darryl Van Claybrook, 50, of Carolina, passed away from a heart attack on Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2012) at the home of his mother.

He was born Dec. 30, 1961, in Fairmont, the son of the late Willie Gilbert Claybrook and Carrie Elizabeth Williams Yancey of Carolina.

Darryl attended East Orange High School in East Orange, N.J. He was a carpenter by trade and worked with his stepfather, the late Richard Yancey, Bennie Horton and several others. He was also a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Carolina.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three sons, Darryl Johnson of New Jersey, Darrell Claybrook and Kevin Claybrook, both of Fairmont; three brothers, Idris Muhammad of New Jersey, Mark and Keith; one sister, Kelly; his grandmother, Othalean Thomas of Carolina; four grandchildren; three aunts, Betty Goldson and Ethel Mae Taylor, both of Carolina, and Lessie Williams of Fairmont; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard Yancey, and one brother, Derrick Claybrook.

Darryl chose cremation as his final disposition.

Friends may call at the JG Lampkin Funeral Home, Monday from noon-1 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, the Rev. Charles Miller officiating.
