FAIRMONT —
Ella “Micki” Watkins, of North Carolina, formally of Brookside Acres, Route 73, Shinnston, passed away Wednesday (Feb. 2, 2011) at the Janet and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, N.C.
She was born in Monongah to the late Henry Clay Saunders and Mary Elizabeth Tucker Saunders.
She was married to the late Edward Watkins Sr. on Dec. 24, 1941, who preceded her in death.
Micki is survived by her three sons, Robert Watkins of Bridgeport, Doug Watkins of North Carolina, and Ron Watkins and his wife Karen of Fairmont; three granddaughters, Robin Watkins of Fairmont, Rhonda Gwyn of North Carolina, and Shannon Ford of North Carolina; two grandsons, Eddie Watkins of North Carolina and Robert Edward Watkins of Ohio; seven great-grandchildren, Chloe Ford, Brandon Kelly, Brady Kelly, Ronnie Clay Palmer, Brittney Palmer, Alec Watkins and Casey Watkins; her sister, Kathleen Bissett of Fairmont; her brother, Henry Saunders of North Carolina; her niece, Shirley Wilson of Fairmont; and her good friend, James Lee of Swisher Hill.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Saunders; and four half-sisters, Dorothy Watson, Doris Estep, Zella Thompson and Thelma Prunty. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Carol Watkins.
Micki was a graduate of Monongah High School.
Friends will be received at Harmer Funeral Home in Shinnston from 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, Attention: Tracy Kiger, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017 in memory of Ella Watkins.
