Warren Huffman

Warren Huffman, 88, of Fairmont, passed away Monday (Nov. 12, 2012), on his 43rd wedding anniversary, at the Arbors in Fairmont.

He was born Jan. 25, 1924 in Monongah, son of the late Ted and Mabel (Addis) Huffman.

Warren was retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in Fairmont where he worked for more than 30 years until the plant’s closing. He was a shift foreman in the packing department and was one of only two guards chosen to close the plant.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Navy Seabees stationed in the Philippines. Warren was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah, and the White Hall Lions Club. He enjoyed mowing his lawn, playing golf and walking Apple Valley Golf Course with his dog Patches.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (Bunner) Cox Huffman; a stepdaughter, Linda (Cox) Gowers of Elkins; a stepson, William R. “Buz” Cox and wife Patty of Monongah; a brother, Dick Huffman and wife Dottie of Monongah; a sister, Gretchen Stangler of Kent, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Dot Huffman of Metuchen, N.J.; grandchildren, Tricia (Cox) Winkler and husband T.J., Casey (Cox) Harris, and Jessica (Gowers) Williams and husband Frank; great-grandchildren, Sydni Winkler, Reghan Winkler, Michael Harris, Kyle Williams and Lorelei Williams; and special friends, Robin Karnes of Fairmont, and Karen and Charles Zeitler of Maryland.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Huffman; and a sister, Fern Thompson.

Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, from 6-9 p.m. today. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Monongah with Father Steve Joseph as celebrant. The pallbearers will include Richard, Roger, Tom and Rodney Huffman, Frank Williams, Richard Karnes and Mike Prunty. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
