Junior Stevens, 85, of Mannington, passed away Monday (Aug. 13, 2012) at West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born Feb. 19, 1927 at Joe’s Run in Mannington, the son of the late Kinsey Stevens and Nellie Huffman Stevens.
He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Sharon Stevens of Whetstone; one sister, Helen Uiselt of Wadsworth, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Elaine Hamilton Stevens, who died Feb. 1, 2006; three brothers, Charles Stevens, George Stevens and Glen Stevens; one sister, Edna Baker; and an infant sister, Mary Stevens.
Junior retired from the West Virginia Department of Transportation in 1989 as a truck driver. He attended Whetstone Grade School and Gransville Grade School. He was affiliated with Noah’s Ark Assembly of God in Fairview. He loved his cats and enjoyed sitting out every evening watching cars travel past his house. He enjoyed life and when his sister visited from Ohio.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, from 2-8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Doug Barber officiating. Burial will follow at Whetstone Cemetery.
