Virginia Lee Baker Thompson, 85, of Fairmont, passed away Monday (March 4, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital.
She was born in Clarksburg on Jan. 9, 1928, a daughter of the late Rev. Ralph Baker and Elpha Wetzel Baker.
Mrs. Baker was a loving wife and devoted mother to her three sons. She was a homemaker, avid bowler, gardener and loved to quilt, but her biggest pleasure was spending time with her children. She was the treasurer of the Senior Citizen’s Bowling League for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Knowlen “Ben” Thompson; three sons, Kenneth and his wife Karen “Susie” Thompson, Roger and his wife Tossie Thompson, and Brian and his wife Jeanette Thompson, all of Fairmont. Three grandchildren survive, Terry Lynn Thompson, Michael Thompson and Nicole Thompson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl and Robert Baker; and sisters, Georgia Baker Farkas and Dorothy Baker.
Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from 4-8 p.m. today and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Josh Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
