Philip Lee Kines, 58, of Fairmont, died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2013) in the Louis A. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Clarksburg.
He was born Nov. 18, 1954, in Philippi, a son of the late Junior Compton Kines and Madoline Reva Burner Kines.
Kines worked as an electrician for the Novelis Corp. of Fairmont. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served in the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Marksman and Combat Aircrew Insignia. Philip enjoyed hunting, fishing and target shooting. He was a former member of the VFW Post 629 of Fairmont.
He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Madoline Marie Kines and Katherine Clarabelle Kines, both of Fairmont; a brother, Harold Cox and his wife Melanie of Frederick, Md.; two sisters, Nancy McDonald and her husband Mack of Warrenton, Va., and Paulette Snider of Woodbridge, Va.; as well as several nieces and nephews, including Randy Stafford, a special nephew, of Philippi; and two special friends, Troy Eddy of Rivesville and Chris Killough of Fairmont.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 6-9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday. The funeral service will take place in the funeral home at noon Wednesday with Chaplain Khoa Nguyen officiating. The committal service will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Philippi. Full military funeral honors will be conducted at graveside by the Barbour County American Legion Post 44.
