Aldace Lairl Huffman, 85, a longtime resident of Elkins, departed this life on the morning of Wednesday (July 4, 2012) at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.
“Huff,” as he was commonly referred to, was born Feb. 10, 1927 in Alton, son of the late Albert Bailey Huffman and Isabel Peace Huffman.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Judith Huffman of Fairmont; three daughters, Rena Hamrick of Fairmont, Cindy Huffman of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Cathy McNemar and her husband Scott of Hedgesville; and one son, David Huffman of Fairmont. He is also survived by his brother, Allen Huffman of Edgewater, Md.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his first wife, Mary Jo Russell.
Huff graduated from Buckhannon Upshur High School and West Virginia Wesleyan College. He also served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator during World War II. He was employed by the Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co., A&P Grocery Stores for 43 years in Buckhannon, Fairmont, and retiring in 1986 from the store in Elkins. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working crossword puzzles, coin collecting, making small toys out of wood, and going hunting and fishing with his family and best friends.
Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, from 5-8 p.m. Friday and from noon until 1 p.m. Saturday. The service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Mike Richards officiating. Burial will follow at Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
