Leslie ‘Gene’ Mahaney

Leslie Eugene “Gene” Mahaney, 82, of Plum Run, died Wednesday (Feb. 6, 2013) at his residence.

He was born Nov. 23, 1930 in Farmington, a son of the late Leslie H. and Mary Ethel Bland Mahaney.

Gene was a security guard for National Acme in Cleveland, Ohio, having retired with 40 years of service. He was a graduate of Farmington High School, a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Oakhurst Church of Christ and the Willoughby Lodge No. 302, AF & AM. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and especially loved his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Faye Boggs Mahaney, whom he married Feb. 9, 1974; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steven Eugene Mahaney of Pennsylvania, Erik Wayne and Jacqueline Mahaney of Mannington, and Daniel Ray and Sheryl Mahaney of Metz; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Ann Mahaney of Farmington, and Frederick and Donna Mahaney of Oregon; a sister, Eleanor Moore of Farmington; and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. today. A brief memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Evangelist Randy Cook officiating. Cremation will follow.

Memorial donations will be accepted at the funeral home.
