Willis Earl “Bill” Pride, 86, of Grassy Run Community, Fairmont, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2013) at his daughter’s home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Fairmont, on March 21, 1926, a son of the late Glenn Clyde and Ethel Marie (Reed) Pride.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris Jean (Tolle) Pride.
Bill was retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Plant with 36 years of service as a mechanic. He was Methodist by faith. He was an active member of Cross Roads 4-H Community Center and a charter member of the Cross Roads Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family.
Bill is survived by three daughters, Janey Curry and her husband Paul of Hundred, Karen Nichols and her husband Jim of Fairmont, and Sandie Graves of Fairmont; five grandchildren, Mystee Ansari and her husband Rod, Adrienne Bean and her husband T.J., Jillian Kisner and her husband Josh, Miles Graves and Taylor Graves; and four great-grandchildren, Zakkary Ansari, Aidan and Ashton Bean, and Maddox Kisner.
Also surviving are four brothers, George Pride of Fairmont, Jim Pride of Fairmont, Ernie Pride of Doylestown, Ohio, and Ervin Pride of Ravenswood; and one sister, Barbara Edgell of Fairmont.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Leslie “Buck” Pride; a brother, Clyde Pride; and two sisters, Louise Pride and Ida Mae Clark.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, his body will be cremated.
The family will receive friends at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Matt Holbert officiating.
