Robert Chocky, 72, of Joetown Community, Mannington, passed away Thursday (Jan. 31, 2013) at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 29, 1940 at Wendel in Taylor County, the son of the late Charles Chocky and Lena Cherenkia Chocky, who were from the country of Poland.
He is survived by a sister, Carolyn Sue Criss of Mannington; and two brothers, Charles Chocky and wife, Nancy, of Rosemont, and William “Bill” Chocky of Mannington.
Several nephews, one niece, two great-nephews and one great-niece also survive.
Bill was a bulldozer operator on strip mine coal. He was employed as an underground coal miner at the Wendel mine several years ago. He enjoyed walking and in his younger days he enjoyed hunting. He also was a blacksmith and worked for several people in the area.
There will be no funeral home visitation or service. At the request of the deceased, he chose cremation as his final disposition, with a family memorial service to be held at a later date.
Masters Funeral Home in Mannington is in charge of arrangements.
