Rosa Lee (Moore) Goodwin, 79, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (Jan. 3, 2013) at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born in Barbour County, on March 4, 1933, a daughter of Lura (Phillips) Moore of Fairmont and the late Johnnie William Moore.
Rosa Lee was retired from the former Philips Lighting Co., where she worked as a quality control operator for more than 35 years. She was a 1951 graduate of East Fairmont High School. While working at Philips, she received a B.A. degree in education from Fairmont State University and a master’s degree from West Virginia University.
She was a longtime member of Mt. Harmony Community Church, where she held several different offices. She was a volunteer for the Marion County Rescue Squad and HOPE. She loved to write and published a book of poetry which she shared with her family and friends.
She enjoyed camping with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved traveling with her husband, especially to Florida where they spent many winter seasons.
She is survived by her loving husband, James W. Goodwin, whom she married on May 29, 1951. In addition to her mother, she is also survived by one daughter, Terry L. Pratt and her husband Roger; two sons, James W. Goodwin II and his wife Laura, and William (Randy) Goodwin, all of Fairmont; five grandchildren, Janet L. (Pratt) Zorik and her husband John (Chris) of Grafton, Julie L. (Pratt) Albertson and her husband Chris of Fairmont, Gregory N. Pratt and his wife Cindy of Fairmont, James Scott Goodwin of Fairmont, and James W. Goodwin III of Martinsburg; and six great-grandchildren, Ryan Zorik and Aaron Zorik of Grafton, Lincoln Pratt, Haley Pratt, Leyton Albertson and Reilly Albertson, all of Fairmont.
Also surviving is her sister, Jean Squires of Fairmont; three brothers, William Richard Moore and his wife Mary Ann of Fairmont, Johnnie L. Moore and his wife Georgiene of Greensburg, Pa., and J. Douglas Moore and his wife Debbie of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Betty) Goodwin Morgan of Smithfield, Va.; step-grandchildren, Janie Harris of Fairmont, Jenny Reedy of Fairmont, and Rich Harris of Hagerstown, Md.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Taylor Goodwin, and a brother-in-law, Henry B. Squires.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday and from 10-11 a.m. Monday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ruth Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Fairmont.
