John C. Trainer Jr.

FAIRMONT — John C. Trainer Jr., 81, of Bridgeport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday (June 24, 2012).

He was born Nov. 27, 1930 in Indiana, Pa., a son of the late John C. and Nell E. McAdoo Trainer.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 47 years, Dorothea “Doffie” S. Hunt Trainer; and his brother, Daniel T. Trainer.

He is survived by one daughter, Constance R. Holley of Bridgeport; three grandchildren, Jon H. Holley of Fairmont, and Wade and Sherri R. Holley Bramer of Bridgeport; two great-grandchildren, Alexis N. Bramer of Morgantown and Derrick J. Bramer of Bridgeport; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Calvin Hibner of Huntington; and nieces, Pat, Lizzy and Patricia Edge of Bridgeport.

John was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the Korean Service Medal. He was retired from Allegheny Power as a construction coordinator.

John was an avid Mountaineer and Steelers fan. He enjoyed fishing the West Virginia streams and the Outer Banks. He enjoyed spending time with his family and vacationing at Topsail Island, N.C. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He attended Marion Independent Baptist Church and was a born-again Christian.

Friends and family may visit Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 E. Main St., Bridgeport, from 4-8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Charles McDonald officiating. Entombment will follow the service at Mount Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum in Fairmont. The Marion County Veterans Council will perform military funeral rites at the graveside.
