FAIRMONT —
Joseph Andrew Malnick, 90, of Fairmont, passed away Wednesday (March 17, 2010) at his residence.
He was born Oct. 26, 1919, in Grant Town, a son of the late George Malnick and Mary Kott.
He was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Mr. Malnick retired from the Eastern Associated Coal Mines in Grant Town with more than 40 years of service and was an active member of the United Mine Workers of America. Mr. Malnick was a true outdoorsman, and he loved to hunt, fish and camp. He also enjoyed sports and especially liked to watch his grandkids’ games.
Survivors include his wife, Hester A. Jarrett Malnick of Fairmont; two children, Joe Malnick and his wife Barbara of Barrackville and Jeanie Bane of Barrackville; five grandsons, Chris Malnick and his wife Kathy of Corbin Branch, Scott Malnick of Barrackville, Steve Malnick and his wife Jennifer of Fairview, Eddie Bane and his wife Michelle of Warrenton, Va. and Brad Bane and his wife Danielle of Fairmont; one granddaughter, Kelli Neely and her husband Jason of Morgantown; six great-grandsons, Drew, Trevor and Cole Malnick, Austin and Tyler Bane and Luke Neely; four great-granddaughters, Ashton and Bailey Malnick, Emma Bane and Lola Neely; one sister-in-law, Irene Malnick of Fairmont; three stepdaughters, Patty Kincaid and her husband Al of Fairmont, Sondra Russell and her husband Bruce of Follansbee, and Beverly Lynch and her husband Wayne of Columbus, Ga.; eight step-grandchildren, Brenda and Lori Kincaid, Matthew, Shawn, Amy and Adam Russell, Abbey Satterfield and Jarrett Lynch.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Sims Malnick; a son-in-law, Spike Bane; and one brother, Walter Malnick.
Friends and family may visit the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 1 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Larry Buckland officiating. Interment will follow at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
