Sara J. Andrick (nee Van Gilder), 79, of Columbus, Ohio, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday (March 1, 2013).
She was born June 6, 1933, in Fairmont, to the late Sara (Springer) and Charles W. Van Gilder Sr.
She graduated from East Fairmont High School, earned a bachelor’s degree from Fairmont State College and her master’s degree from Ohio State University. She taught and retired from Columbus City Schools in 1996.
Sara was a faithful member of Parkview United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and had served as a lay minister and on the board of directors for many years. She was a prayer warrior for many.
Sara also enjoyed attending the A.O.A. classes at the Hilltop YMCA. She made lasting friendships wherever she went.
Surviving are her children, Steven (Cheryl Ann) Andrick, Edward Andrick, Ellen (Tom) Flynn and Cheryl Lee Andrick; grandchildren, Courtney and Kyle Andrick and Amanda and Jessica Flynn; great-grandchildren, Micah, Brelonna and Andrew; and brother, Charles (Mona) Van Gilder Jr. and family.
Family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Monday at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Tuesday at Parkview United Methodist Church, 344 Algonquin Ave., Columbus, Ohio, with visiting 10-11 a.m.; Rev. Paul Ernst, officiating; final resting place, Maple Grove Cemetery in Fairmont. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
