Janice May (Pitman) Bingamon, 77, of Kingmont Community, Fairmont, passed away Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2012) at Fairmont General Hospital.
She was born in Four States on Nov. 30, 1935, a daughter of the late Albert and Osa (Parish) Pitman.
Janice was retired from the Marion County Board of Education where she worked as a secretary for 20 years. In her earlier years, she also worked at Owens-Illinois for 20 years. She received a business management degree from Webster College. She was a member of Boothsville United Methodist Church. She was an active 25-year member of the Morgan Morgan Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, NSDAR. She served as recording secretary and press book chairperson for the local chapter. In addition, she served on the following national committees: Public Relations and DAR, Service for Veterans — Patients. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, playing bingo and her cat, Rascal.
She is survived by her loving husband, George Charles “Chuck” Bingamon of Fairmont; one son, Harley R. Marsh of Fairmont; three daughters, Jill Willis of Coshocton, Ohio, Melanie Snider of Fairmont, and Janice “Jay” Carr and her husband Steve; nine grandchildren, James Ryan Stuckey, Jackie Stuckey, Haley Snider, Kaila Snider, Joseph Gilbert, Dennis Perkins III, Tessa Carr, Dustin Carr and Willie Marsh; and three great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one brother, James Pitman and his wife Carol of Wooster, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Pitman; and two sisters, Auna Meadows and Wanda Lavale.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, from 5-8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Mike Richards officiating. Interment will follow at Parish Cemetery in Four States.
