Wilda Foltz

Wilda May Jamison Foltz, 79, of Fairmont, passed away Saturday (Nov. 10, 2012) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 6, 1933 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Virginia McElroy Jamison and William C. Jamison.

Wilda was the loving wife of the late James Burton Foltz for 50 years.

She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School in 1951 and fondly relayed the appreciation she had for her teachers who, in a day when severe hearing impairment would have excluded her from finishing high school, cared enough to provide the instruction to graduate.

Wilda was a homemaker who took loving care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the primary caregiver during the illness for her mother and husband. She was an avid walker, umbrella in hand, at Morris Park, and had a passion for reading that was sustained by weekly visits to the Marion County Public Library. She enjoyed spending her summer vacation with her family at the beach in Ocean City, Md.

Wilda is survived by her loving children, Mary Foltz (Daniel) Weikle of Fairmont, Sandra Foltz Deaton of Fairmont, James (Mary) Foltz of Fairfax, Va., and Carol Foltz (Marty) Zinn of Ashville, N.C.; grandchildren, Erin Weikle (Brent) Bunner of Fairmont, Colby Weikle (Brian) Dziki of McDonald, Pa., James Deaton of Fairmont, Candace Deaton (Sean) Maynard of Gaithersburg, Md., Chris (Jamie) Deaton of Bradford, N.H., Megan Edwards of Clarksburg, and Matthew and Madeline Foltz of Fairfax, Va.; and great-grandchildren, Gibson and Hollan Bunner, Charlotte and Juliet Dziki, Max and Sofia Zinn and Evelyn Deaton. Also surviving are a cousin, JoAnn Covalt of Thomasville, Ga.; and loving nieces, Sue Hawkinberry, Sherry Hagar and Nancy Carr of Fairmont, and Emily Ann Gray of Tallahassee, Fla.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Burton Foltz; her sister, Dolores Jamison Mastradone; and a son-in-law, Alan Deaton.

In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, Wilda chose to be cremated. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Our family is grateful for the loving care Wilda received at Fairmont General Emergency Room and Ruby Memorial Hospital CTU.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marion County Parks and Recreation Commission (MCPARC), P.O. Box 1258, Fairmont, WV 26555-1258.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, and online condolences may be made to the family at www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
