Harry Lee “Bub” Boord, 86, of Barrackville, was at home when he went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (Oct. 31, 2012).
He was born on Dunkard Mill Run in Marion County on Aug. 26, 1926, a son of the late Harry C. Boord and Marie Wroe Boord.
Mr. Boord was a Baptist by faith. He served his country in the United States Army for three years. After being discharged, he returned home to get married. He was proud to be a veteran. He was an active member of the VFW, American Legion and Berlin U.S. Military Veterans Association.
He enjoyed working in his garden, taking care of his flowers, and in his younger years, fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He loved being a volunteer to help others. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Barrackville for 20 years, where he served several years as president, member of the Lions Club, served on Barrackville Town Council, enjoyed running his snow plow in the winter in his early years, and worked with the Democratic Party, where he worked on the Executive Committee in Barrackville, Jayenne and Eldora.
He was instrumental, along with Cal Stickley, in the building of the Middletown Community Building in Eldora.
He is survived by one brother, Elmus and JoAnn Boord of Ohio; his four daughters, Karen Boord Cyrankowski and her husband Dennis of Barrackville, Ginger Boord Holmes and her husband Bruce of Deland, Fla., Brenda K. Boord of Fairmont, and Linda Boord Thompson and her companion Carl Kearney of Franklinton, N.C.; one son, Roger A. Boord and companion LeAnna Richmond of Fairmont; four stepchildren, Bill Larrison of Dunn, N.C., Lois Damico Scott and her husband Rick of Chambersburg, Pa., Brenda Damico Watkins and her husband Greg of Fairmont, and Pete Damico of Arizona.
He is also survived by his wonderful grandchildren, Lisa Cyrankowski Hines of Fairmont, Lee M. Cyrankowski and his wife Amy of Barrackville, David Cyrankowski of Morgantown, Krystal Cyrankowski Wood and her husband Mark of Fairview, Justin P. Thompson and his wife April of Fairmont, Jennifer Thompson Abbott and her husband Jason of Franklinton, N.C., and Morgan Boord Morehead and her husband Thomas of Frostburg, Md. Mr. Boord has step-grandchildren, Jessie Larrison, Jason Headley, Kelly Headley, Shawna Watkins, Elizabeth Damico and Lewis Damico.
He also had several great grandchildren, Akela, Alexis and Aaron Hines, Avery Cyrankowski, Bridget and Alivia Wood, Aric Thompson, Jordan and Tyler Abbott, Ivie and Ilah Boord, Ana Belle Morehead, Jaxon and Case, Brittany and Marisha and Logan and Megan. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Ralph Wycoff of Fairmont and Bill Jones of Ohio; sisters-in-law, Jean Andre of Virginia, Ellen Zorik of Florida, Clara Mae Henry of Pennsylvania, Joan Black of Pennsylvania, Grace Biser of West Virginia, and Ruth Mallory of West Virginia. He is also survived by special friends, Marge and Maggie, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, M. Louise Neptune Boord; second wife, Joyce Damico Boord; one brother, John Boord; three sisters, Mary Boord Wycoff, Margaret Boord Hoffman and Juanita Boord Jones; and one grandson, Dennis C. Cyrankowski II.

Friends and family may call the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, on Saturday, from noon to 8 p.m., and on Sunday, from noon to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dr. David Cyphers officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
