Rose Garcia

Rose Ann (Chaff) Garcia, 83, of Fairmont, passed away Monday (Feb. 18, 2013) at her home after an extended illness.

She was born July 14, 1929 in Logan, daughter of the late Adam and Wilma Chaff.

Rose was the beloved wife of Manuel Garcia for 65 years. She was the cherished mother of six children, Patricia Branham and husband David of Rolling Meadows, Ill., Michael Garcia and wife Peggy of Fairmont, David Garcia and wife Kelly of Marietta, Ohio, Richard Garcia and wife Donna of Fairmont, Sue Ann Garcia of Fairmont, and Robert Garcia and wife Michelle of Fairmont.

She was the devoted grandmother to Kristi Garcia Ramsey and husband Steve, Jon Branham, Benjamin Branham, Matthew Branham, Joseph Garcia and wife Heather, Cassandra Garcia, Michael Garcia, Jenna Garcia, Joel Garcia and Chelsea Garcia; and step-grandchildren, Jason Eddy, and Brittney Jack and husband Mark. Her great-grandchildren are Taylor Thomas, Erin Ramsey and Braylon Garcia; step-great-grandchildren are Bryleigh, Slayton and Mayson Jack. She also is survived by two nephews, William Kervaski and wife Susan, and William Chaff and wife Linda; and a brother-in-law, Tony Garcia and wife Janet.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Chaff and his wife Janice; and a sister, Irene Brown and her husband Carroll.

Rose loved her family above all else. She spent her younger years working at Owens-Illinois glass factory. She also was employed by Fairmont State College. She enjoyed bowling and especially bingo in her later years. She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.

The family would like to thank Rose’s caregivers, Donna Nester, Debra West and Hospice nurses Mark Wotring and Bridget Yerace. They also would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ang for his many years of service.

Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. Thursday, with a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church with Father Robert Perriello as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Fairmont.

Memorial contributions may be made in Rose’s memory to the American Lung Association, F.I.D.O. or the American Cancer Society. Also Masses are appreciated.
