Doris Naomi Kelly Faust, 93, of Fairmont, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 5, 2013) at Genesis Fairmont Campus Tygart Center.
She was born June 5, 1919, in Delight, Ark., a daughter of the late Irwin and Rebecca J. Baldree. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard A. Faust, in 1995.
Mrs. Faust was a graduate of Quannah High School, Quannah, Texas. After high school, she moved to Denver, Colo., and worked at Lowry Air Force Base during World War II. She met her husband, Barney, in Colorado. They were married and lived in Kansas for a while before moving to West Virginia.
She was a homemaker, dedicated to her family, and to raising her four children in Fairmont and later Buckhannon. She and her late husband also lived in Charleston, where she worked in retail, before retiring to Braxton County.
In the late 1980s they moved to Fairmont to be surrounded by their children, grandchildren and eventually great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She so looked forward to visits from the little ones, watching football and reading. She was a fantastic cook and enjoyed preparing special meals for family and friends. She was a member of Central Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Fairmont.
Survivors include her daughters, Marcia Jean Faust and her husband George Johnston of Fairmont, and Pamela Sue Faust Thorne of Fairmont; sons, Bernard L. Faust of Fairmont, and David Allen and his wife Marilyn Faust of Nitro; grandchildren, Roger L. “J.R.” and his wife Sheila Thorne of Frederick, Md., Jodi Thorne Channel and her companion William R. Johnson II of Fairmont, Heather L. Thorne and her husband Stephen Quisenberry of Fairmont, Kelly Johnston and her husband Jason Stickles of Jacksonville, N.C., Stacy Johnston and her husband Jason Markwell of Biberist, Switzerland, and Michael Allen Faust of Nitro; great-grandchildren, Trystan Quisenberry, Torence Quisenberry, Caleb Stickles, Rileigh Stickles, Brianna Channel, Rachel Thorne, James Markwell and Samuel Markwell, and one great-grandchild Thorne due in July; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert E. Kelly and his wife Nadine of Texas.
Friends and family may call at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 2-9 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The funeral will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday with Rev. Johnna Mansuetto officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Fairmont.
