George Whiting III

George Meredith Whiting III, 60, of Fairmont, passed away Saturday (Feb. 2, 2013) at his residence.

He was born July 17, 1952 in Fairmont, a son of the late John Albert Whiting Jr. and Mattie Sue Austin Whiting.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Ann Trader Whiting.

George was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. He formerly was employed as an electrician, disc jockey, security officer and police officer. His favorite pastime was reading the scripture and praying.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four siblings, Michael Edward Whiting of Cary, N.C., Patricia Ann Whiting of Fairmont, John Roberts Whiting of Raleigh, N.C., and Don Allen Whiting of Fairmont. He also is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made in George’s honor to the West Virginia Rescue Ministries, 107 Jefferson St., Fairmont, WV 26554.

Friends and family may visit Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 5-8 p.m. today. A private committal service will take place at a later time at Evergreen Cemetery.
