Audrey Morris

Audrey Wayne Morris, 88, of Fairmont, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 29, 2013) at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg.

He was born in Fairmont on Sept. 18, 1924, a son of the late Glenn Hood Morris and Mary Alice (Tate) Morris.

Audrey proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-46. He was a union bricklayer by trade with Local Union No. 15. He also worked in several area coal mines. He was a member of VFW Post 629 and the Eagles of Fairmont.

He is survived by his only son, David Wayne Morris and his wife Belinda Kay of Fairmont; and two grandsons, Aaron Morris of Fairmont and Adam Morris of Fairmont. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Glenn Morris; and two sisters, Freda Oliver and Ethel Stalaker.

At the request of the deceased, he will be laid to rest at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown at noon Friday, where full military honors will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Council Honor Guard.

Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, has been entrusted with arrangements.
