Betty Joan Shatzer, 87, of Morgantown, passed away Monday (Jan. 14, 2013) at Fairmont General Hospital in Fairmont.
Betty was born in Morgantown on March 1, 1925, a daughter of the late Linn Wilson and the late Maria (Roser) Wilson.
Betty graduated from Morgantown High School and retired from West Virginia University. She was a vibrant and caring mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed shopping and socializing, and looked forward to weekly Sunday dinners with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Candace Chidester and husband Dr. Tom Turner. Her grandchildren include Jennifer and Gary Trippett, Tim Turner, Christopher Turner, Elizabeth Turner and Jonathan Turner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shatzer, along with her brother, Chape Wilson, and sisters, Carol Albertazzie and Anneliese Taylor.
Mrs. Shatzer’s wishes for cremation have been honored by her family.
Family and friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 2 p.m. Friday until the time of the memorial service at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Tim W. Halloran officiating. Inurnment will follow in Lawnwood Cemetery.
