James Walter Dennison, 71, of Pine Grove Community, Fairmont, passed away Friday (Jan. 4, 2013) at his home.
He was born in Fairmont on Aug. 26, 1941, a son of the late Floyd Clyde and Clara (Merico) Dennison Beccaloni.
James was a coal miner by trade. He was retired from the Federal No. 2 Mine at Grant Town. He was a graduate of Fairview High School. He was a man of very strong faith and a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Barrackville.
He was a member of the UMWA and a former member of the Mon River Bass Club. He enjoyed fishing and faithfully attending all of his grandchildren’s ball games. He also was an avid West Virginia University Mountaineers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan who enjoyed watching all their games on television with his wife, Sharon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years in April, Sharon (Hearn) Dennison; one son, Jimmy Dennison and his wife Cathie of Fairmont; one daughter, Melodie Nuzum and her husband Carl of Fairmont; and five grandchildren, Ryan A. Nuzum, Travis James Nuzum, Madison Nicole Nuzum, Morgan Nicole Dennison and Evan James Dennison.
Also surviving is a sister, Penny Lee and her husband Pat of Bellview; nieces and nephews, Clairanna Orgill, Natalie Alvaro, Joseph Lee and Stevie Lee; and his special cat, Fluffy.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Pastor David Cyphers officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
