Don Orr

Waitman Don Orr, 59, of Village Way, Fairmont, passed away Saturday (Dec. 29, 2012) evening in his residence with his loving family by his side.

He was born June 17, 1953, in Rachel, son of Martha Jane “Straight” Orr of Fairmont and the late Homer Orr.

Mr. Orr was a Protestant by faith. He was a graduate of Fairmont State College, receiving his degree as a CPA in 1986. He later was employed at Monongahela Power Co. for 27 years as an accounting supervisor. He is a member of AICPA. Mr. Orr was active in various school improvement councils and was very active with youth activities. Don enjoyed family activities and spending time with his grandchild.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann “Gray” Orr of Fairmont (married 36 years); two sons, Donnie Orr of Fairmont and Brian Orr and his fiancée Alicia Riggs both of Fairmont; a grandchild, Aubrianna Orr of Fairmont; a brother and his wife, Greg and Gi Gi Orr of Houston, Texas; three sisters and their husbands, Sharon and Bill Leader of Grand Rapids, Mich., Tricia and Bill Julian of Fairmont, and Lisa and Tom Kirk of Asheville; his mother-in-law, Carmela Gray of Fairmont; a brother-in-law, James Grey Jr. and his wife Janet; and two best friends, Kenny Reed of Fairmont and Billy Black of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Hank Orr, and his father–in-law, James Gray Sr.

Mr. Orr has chosen cremation services. Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. today and 10-11 a.m. on Thursday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Matt Chappell and Mr. Bill Leader officiating.
