Stanley R. Tennant, 84, of Monongah, passed away Sunday (Dec. 23, 2012) at Don Fitzwater’s Gracious Living.
He was born July 29, 1928 in Pentress, son of the late Boyd and Blanche Tennant.
Stanley was a former coal miner for Consol Coal Co., where he was a prep plant shift foreman. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Green Hills Country Club.
He is survived by two sons, Richard Tennant and wife Mary of Parrish Run, and Robert Tennant and wife Penny of New Martinsville; two brothers, Robert Tennant of Morgantown, and James Tennant and wife Donna of Texas; five grandchildren, Holly Osterlund, Richard Tennant Jr., Sally Tennant, Jason Tennant and Matt Tennant; and 10 great-grandchildren, Sydney Osterlund, Tristan, Peyton, Wyatt and Kaden Tennant, Finn Thorton, Theo and Shepard Tolka, Kegan McCullough and Ray Tennant.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lois (Harker) Tennant; a brother, Charles Tennant; and a sister, Eva Fern.
The family would like to thank the staff of Don Fitzwater’s Gracious Living on Morgantown Avenue for their loving care.
Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Sherman Goodwin and the Rev. Jack Kincaid officiating. Interment will follow at Parrish Run Cemetery.
