Joseph Kubiet Jr.

Joseph James Kubiet Jr., 86, of Monongah, died Tuesday (Feb. 19, 2013) at the John Manchin Sr. Health Care Center.

He was born Oct. 29, 1926, in Detroit, Mich., son of the late Joseph J. Kubiet Sr. and Laura (Bucy) Kubiet.

Joseph was employed by Bethlehem Coal Co. and retired from Patriot Coal Co. He was also formerly employed by Fairmont State University.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII, and was part of the first outfit to occupy Japan. Joseph enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris (Lane) Kubiet; a brother, Leo Kubiet and wife Jean of Largo, Fla.; and a sister, Margie Whitehair of Dayton, Ohio. He was also blessed with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Eugene Kubiet.

The family would like to thank the staff of the John Manchin Sr. Health Care Center for their wonderful care.

Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, is in charge of the arrangements. Interment will be at the WV National Cemetery in Grafton at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.domicofh.com.
