Louis Pishner

Louis Pishner, 83, of Clarksburg, departed this life Wednesday (Feb. 13, 2013) in Morgantown.

He was born in Anmoore on June 19, 1929, a son of the late Dominick and Mary Costa Pishner.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 55 years, Anna Margaret Allessio Pishner, on July 14, 2012.

Mr. Pishner is survived by three children, Diana Walker and husband Mark of Fairmont, Stephen Pishner and wife Belinda of Clarksburg, and Anna Margaret Harsh and husband Greg of Wheeling; grandchildren, Mark Curtis “Curt” Walker Jr., Christopher Louis Walker and wife Ashley, Courtney Anne Walker and Grazia Jovan Pishner. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Ashton and Austin Walker; and one brother, Joseph Pishner and wife Eva of Zanesville, Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Pishner was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Pishner; and one sister, Mary Pinion; and his grandson, John Joseph Domenick Pishner.

Mr. Pishner was a graduate of Bridgeport High School. He started out working at the Manhattan Restaurant. He then ran a gas station in Anmoore for a short period. He worked at Sutter Roofing when he left for two years and served in the United States Army. Having completed his service to his country, he then returned to Sutter Roofing. He also worked at the Uptowner Inn and Sheraton Inn in Clarksburg. When the state of West Virginia took over the Sheraton, he remained as maintenance supervisor, having retired from there with several years of service.

Louis was a devout Catholic having been a member of the St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Anmoore, where he served as an altar boy and later as an usher. In subsequent years, he was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, having served as an usher there as well. He was formerly a parade volunteer for the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival, a volunteer fire chief for the Anmoore Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Clarksburg Lions Club, VFW Post No. 573 and an avid bowler, having earned many trophies.

Family and friends may call at the All Saints Catholic Church, 317 East Main St., Bridgeport, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Benedict Kapa and Father Hilarion Cann as con-celebrant.

Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery where full military services will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Louis’ memory to either the All Saints Catholic Church Building Fund, 317 E. Main St.; Bridgeport, WV 26330 or the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival, P.O. Box 1632, Clarksburg, WV 26302.
