Goldie “Peggy” McCoy, 103, Fairmont, passed away early Friday morning (Nov. 16, 2012).
She was born Aug. 10, 1909, in Braxton County, daughter of the late Fred and Rachel Knicely Weaver. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil Anderson in 1932, and her second husband, Doyle Marion McCoy, who died in 1964.
Mrs. McCoy was a graduate of Burton High School in Burton. She was a member of Monongah Baptist Church in Monongah. She was a retired employee of the YWCA in Fairmont. Mrs. McCoy enjoyed arts, crafts and quilting.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol McCoy of Little Mill Fall Community and Wanda Toothman of Rivesville; seven grandchildren, Daniel and Jody McCoy of Monongah, David McCoy of Katy, Rebecca and Thomas Anderson of Mill Fall community, Regina and Jarvis Fluharty of Katy, Jeffery and Tammy McCoy of Monongah, Gary and Lia Toothman of North Carolina, Charles Allen and Kim Toothman Warrenton, Va.; 16 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Ed McCoy and Charles R. Toothman; and two grandchildren, Gregory McCoy and Kenneth R. Toothman.
Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. today and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. David Huckins and Rev. Stanley Merrifield officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Fairmont. The McCoy family requests that memorial donations be made to Amedisys Hospice Care, P.O. Box 366, Anmoore, WV 26232.
