Mary Theresa Maunz, of Fairmont, passed from this life Thursday (Oct. 4, 2012) at Fairmont General Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was born in Four States, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Philomenia Schipono Nash.
Theresa was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Roman Catholic Church. She and husband Austin were members of the Green Hills Country Club. During WWII she worked for the Department of the Navy. After the war she worked in several places including the Decorating Department at Owens, Sears Department Store, Prices Dress Shop and finally served as a seamstress, sales clerk, bookkeeper and whatever needed done at her husband’s store, Maunz Individual Shop for Men, from which she retired.
She enjoyed dancing, sewing, reading and especially playing bridge.
Mrs. Maunz is survived by one brother, John Nash of Fairmont; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Minnie Frey-Allevato and John of Fairmont, Lillian Ann “Zeke” Hanes of Virginia Beach and Mary Jo Tork and David of Wheeling; her granddaughter, Jessica Salfia and her husband Mark and their children granddaughter Addison and grandsons Jayce and Dominic of Martinsburg; her grandson, Jonathan Maunz of Philippi; her former daughter-in-law, Twila Smith of Philippi; one sister-in-law, Frances Nash of Weston; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her favorite dance partner and husband of 65 years, Austin T. Maunz on Jan. 21, 2012; her son, Austin Phillip Maunz; four brothers and one sister-in-law Larry, Joseph, Vincent “Jim,” and Dominick and Lee Nash; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nellie and Lud Bogovich and Rose and Stanley Urbaniak.
Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Historic Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday. Services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 10:30 am with Father Robert Periello officiating. Entombment will follow at the Holy Cross Mausoleum.
