David Lee Nuzum

David Lee Nuzum, 78, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (Oct. 4, 2012) at Fairmont General Hospital in Fairmont.

He was born Sept. 4, 1934, in Enterprise, a son of the late Daniel Dewey and Gertrude May McIntire Nuzum.  

David was a Protestant by faith and attended Fairmont Senior High School. He retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, serving from 1952-1973. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed being a handyman.

David is survived by his children, Debra L. Hostutler of Hundred, Stephanie L. Foltz of DeKalb, Ill., Brian D. Nuzum of Mattoon, Ill., Denise Y. McConnell of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; three siblings, Daniel D. Nuzum and his wife Dorothy of Fairmont, Jeanette Ann Orwig of Buckhannon, Faye Marie Sabo-Moody of Michigan; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. David is also survived by his longtime friend, Diane Schneider, of Fairmont.  

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four siblings, Samuel Raymond Nuzum, Betty Rogers, Mary Margaret Knestrick and Doris Jean Wright.

Friends and family may visit the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. D.D. Meighen officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown. The Marion County Veterans Council will conduct full military funeral honors at the cemetery.
