Nelda Marie Keener Rush, 80, of Bunner Ridge Community, Fairmont, passed away Thursday (Oct. 4, 2012) at the John Manchin Sr. Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Fairmont on June 27, 1932, a daughter of the late Willie M. “Bill” and Mary Ruth (Fletcher) Keener.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Delbert Russell Rush, in August of 2007.
Nelda was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a devoted wife and lifelong resident of Bunner Ridge. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Church of Christ and she loved to cook large meals for her family.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Russell Rush Sr. and his wife Marlene of Fairmont and Delbert Bernard “Bernie” Rush and his wife Traci of Fairmont; two daughters, Kathleen Marie Harr and her fiance Dennis Sanders of Fairmont and Myrtle Ruth Sanders and her husband Wayne “Smiles” Sanders of Fairmont; 12 grandchildren, Gary Rush Jr., Bobbi Jo Reese, Kellie Green, Tracy Dean, Vanessa McNemar, Staci Kisner, Trey Musgrove, Erica Thomas, Angela Perkins, Amanda Ammons, Matt Rush and Ashley Rush; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a brother, Ronald E. Keener and his wife Andrea “Andi” of Ohio, and two sisters, Wannalee Vandergrift of Fairmont and Rosaleen Heil of Wheeling.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Rush and Keven Lewis Rush; one grandson, Richard D. Kisner; one brother, Owen E. Keener; three sisters, Mary McCourt, Betty Harbert and Myrtle Sloan; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Sunday from 1-9 p.m. and Monday from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Rex Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Marion County.
