Mary Jo Garrison

Mary Jo Garrison, 84, of Rachel, passed from this life Thursday (June 14, 2012) at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Seven Pines on March 22, 1928, a daughter of the late Glen Cecil and Evelyn Hazel Batson Straight.

A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Jo was a homemaker. She worked for the Dru Lane Manufacturing Co. in Farmington 40 years ago. She was Methodist by faith. She enjoyed playing bingo and the game dice and visiting with out-of-state family members.

Ms. Garrison is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Kay and Robert Gump of Rachel, Patricia and Ken Cole of Salisbury, S.C., and Darlene and George Woolwine of Umatilla, Fla.; two sons, James and Richard Garrison, both of Fairmont; one son-in-law, Ed Miller of Fairmont; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Rosalee Straight of Mannington and Don and Connie Straight of Four States; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Wanda and Bill Iddings of Mannington, Shirley and John Garrison of Lutz, Fla., and Wilma Jean Gibson of Auburn, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece and nephew, Tina and Bill Gump.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Garrison; two daughters, Diane Miller and Katherine and Charles Shugars; one sister, Iona Brandon; and one great-grandson, James Miller.

Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel A), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 1 p.m. with the Rev.
