Joyce Ann Higgins Wright, 50, of Mannington, went to be with the Lord on Thursday (Dec. 6, 2012) at her residence.
She was born Feb. 12, 1962, in Fairmont, a daughter of Wilbert Harold “Luke” Higgins and Alberta June Cartright Higgins of Rymer.
She is survived by a son, Joseph Luke Higgins and fiancee Amanda Lynn Slater of Joetown; a daughter, Rachel Marie Higgins Pitek and husband Shane of Mannington; six grandchildren, Adrian Michelle Forstner, Mariah Brooke Higgins, Aylssa Jade Higgins, Olivia Marie Higgins, Brooklyn Paige Pitek and Aiden Rane Pitek; brother, William Harold “Bill” Higgins and wife Melissa of Mannington; sister, Barbara June and Fred Ice of Blacksville; sister, Rose Marie Sokolosky and husband Chuck of Granville, Tenn.; brother, Daniel Wayne Higgins and wife Judie Lane of Plum Run; sister, Sandra Kay Higgins of Barrackville; and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by a nephew, Joshua Allan Higgins McCauley; and grandparents, Robert and Lilly Bell and Deacon and Elsie Cartright.
Joyce was a member of the Mannington Church of Christ. She enjoyed life and being with people. She always wanted to make people happy. She loved to shop and cook. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had a great sense of humor. Joyce will be sadly missed by everyone.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Azar and his nurse Debbie along with family at Fairmont General Hospital for all their care during her illness.
Family and friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, from 6-9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with Dr. Evangelist Michael P. Reese officiating. Burial will follow at the Huey and Thorne Cemetery.
