Dorothy Everson

Dorothy V. Everson, 89, of Worthington, passed away Sunday (Nov. 25, 2012) at Health South in Morgantown.

She was born Oct. 24, 1923 in Morgantown, the daughter of the late Charles and Floa Wagner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Wilbur “Bill” Everson, after 61 years of marriage.

She is survived by one daughter, Vicki Summers and husband Jim of Worthington; one son-in-law, David Butcher of Michigan; five brothers, Robert Wagner and wife Pauline of Stonewood, Roy Wagner of Leesburg, Va., Jerl Wagner and wife Erma of Ohio, Paul Wagner and wife Francie of Shinnston, and Russell Wagner and wife Kayla of Meadowbrook; two sisters, Carol McGinnis and husband Wayne of Ohio, and Lucille Bowers and husband Frank of Monongah; two brothers-in-law, Don Bartlett of Shinnston, and Merle Everson and wife Francis of Ohio; seven granddaughters, Sheila Bilk and husband Tom, Melissa Lentz and husband Carl, and Kimberly Hamilton and husband Jim, all of Michigan, Jennifer Toler and husband Greg of Florida, and Michelle Bright and husband Richard “Dion,” Christina Veltri, and Heather Henderson and companion David Seamon, all of Fairmont; 11 great-grandchildren, Cortney Bright, Ashley Bright and Tyler Veltri, all of Fairmont, Bradley Bilk, Brianna Bilk, Cassandra Lentz, Carly Lentz, Lauren Lentz, Megan Lentz and Nathaniel Hamilton, all from Michigan, and Jimmy Hamilton, USMC; several nieces and nephews; loving dog, Mickey; and friend and caretaker, Sally Minear.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Jean Butcher; one grandson, Justin Trnka; one brother, Herman Wagner; one sister, Louise Bartlett; four sisters-in-law, Sara Wagner, Emogene Pope, Martha Wagner and Elieen Wagner; and one brother-in-law, Bill Pope.

She was on several bowling leagues, loved to play bingo, bake pies, make homemade jelly, spending time going places with her daughter, going out to eat, spending time with her grandchildren and going to her great-grandchildren’s sporting events.

The family would like to thank Dr. Govind Patel and the staff at Health South for their compassion and care given to her.

Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St., Shinnston, from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Reverend Charles Chipps officiating. Interment will follow in Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.
