Betty Ruth (Hearn) Julian

FAIRMONT — Betty Ruth (Hearn) Julian, 86, of Fairmont, passed away Sunday (June 24, 2012) at the Hospice House of Huntington surrounded by her loving family. She can now rejoin her beloved husband of more than 52 years, Sam Ray “Ace” Julian, who died Nov. 29, 2005.

Betty was born in Arnettsville, Monongalia County, on July 23, 1925. She was a graduate of University High School, Class of 1943. She moved to Fairmont shortly thereafter and resided in Marion County until her passing. She worked at the Fairmont Owens-Illinois Glass Plant for more than 33 years as a selector on “B” shift, retiring in May 1980 upon the plant’s closing.

She is survived by her son, Mark, and daughter-in-law, Pamela, of Teays Valley, and granddaughters, Amber Brooke and Heather Ashley, both of South Charleston, of whom she was extremely proud and loved dearly. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Hearn of Bethlehem, Pa.; sister-in-law, Connie Onderko of Fairmont; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Myrtle E. Hearn, younger sister, Leona Hearn, parents-in-law, William and Barbara Julian, brother-in-law, John “Tubby” Julian, sister-in-law, Rose Julian, and brother-in-law, George Onderko, all of Fairmont; and sister-in-law, Betty Hearn of Bethlehem, Pa.

Friends and relatives may call from 6-8 p.m. today at Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St. in Fairmont. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Barker officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover.

Donations are encouraged in lieu of flowers to the following organizations: the American Alzheimer’s Association, 1111 Lee St. East, Charleston, WV 25301; the American Stroke Association, 207 Debbie Ann Drive, Wheeling, WV 26003; or the American Heart Association, 1110 Prestwick Ave., Morgantown, WV 26508.
