FAIRMONT —
Furbee Lee Clayton, 72, of Grant Town, passed away Friday (June 22, 2012) at his home.
He was born in Fairmont on Oct. 14, 1939, a son of the late William Furbee Clayton and Dessie Mae (Fetty) Clayton Morrow.
Lee is survived by his loving, devoted wife of 39 years, Barbara (Hohensee) Bradford Clayton.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Lee was a retired sign builder.
His great love was music. As a musician, he played many different instruments but was particularly fond of the bass guitar. Lee played all over the state of Arizona and several places in the Fairmont area.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Edwin Elsner of Washington; his daughters, Toni Farris of New Mexico, Cindy Elsner of Grant Town, Patti Crandall of Arizona and Tammy Elsner of Washington; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his brother, William Clayton and his wife Debra of Arizona; two nephews; and many cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl Ann Williams.
In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, his body will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Mr. Clayton’s family would like to thank Hospice Care for their amazing care and comfort to Lee and his family during his illness.
