Glen L. Clutter Jr., 51, of Baxter, passed away Thursday (Feb. 14, 2013) at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born Jan. 29, 1962, in Monongalia County, a son of Dorothy Amos Clutter of Rivesville and the late Glen L. Clutter Sr. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Debbie Clutter of Baxter.
Glen was a coal miner, working for Consol since 1981. He loved his grandchildren and was affectionately called “Pap.” He was proud to be a 16-year member of the Baxter Fire Department. He participated in demolition derby competitions throughout the state of West Virginia and was an avid fisherman. Glen especially liked to fish the Cranberry River.
Glen loved to help people and he never met a stranger. Glen was proud to be an organ donor and, as in life, he continued to help others through his contribution.
In addition to his mother and wife, Glen is survived by one daughter, Chassidy Clutter James and her husband Timothy of Bellview; two grandsons, Hunter and Owen James of Bellview; one brother, Jack Clutter and his wife Tina of Hagans Community; one sister, Peggy Clutter of Rivesville; and five nieces and nephews, John Clutter, Shawna Clutter, Jacob Clutter, Brice Hunt and Kaydea Albright. Glen is also survived by his dog and longtime companion, Belle.
In addition to his father, Glen is preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea R. Clutter, and one brother, Wayne Clutter.
The family of Glen would like to thank the staff of the MICU Unit and Ruby Memorial Hospital for their special care and support. The Clutter family has entrusted funeral arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Second and Jasper streets, Rivesville.
Friends and family will be received at the Baxter Volunteer Fire Department from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 3-7 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 24, 2013). A memorial service will be held at the Baxter Volunteer Fire Department at 7 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 24, 2013) with Pastor Adam Stuck officiating. The family requests that visitors wear casual clothing for the visitation and funeral service. Visitation will continue after the service at the Baxter Volunteer Fire Department until 8 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in Glen’s memory to the Baxter Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 55, Baxter, WV 26560.
