Sarah J. Campione, 97, of Fairmont, died Sunday (Feb. 3, 2013) at the Evergreen Assisted Living Home in Morgantown.
She was born on Sept. 29, 1915, in Kingmont, daughter of the late Tony and Rose Oliverio Reppy.
She was a dedicated wife and mother who always provided loving care to her family. She enjoyed her grandchildren and looked forward to family get-togethers. Sarah was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fairmont and was involved with youth groups and guilds to support her church and community.
She was the last surviving member of the SMC social club of Fairmont, a group which shared life’s journeys for more than 50 years as extended family members. Sarah supported the Fairmont Elks Lodge and the Knights of Columbus organizations as a member of the woman’s auxiliary.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Jo Ann Campione of Greenacres, Fla., and Robert “Bob” and Andrea Campione of Morgantown. She is also survived by grandchildren, Rikki Campione and partner Scott House of Fairmont, Richard “Butch” Campione and wife Neece of Fairmont, Kelli Campione of Fairmont, David Campione and fiance Jennifer Herzog of Ithaca, N.Y., Robert “BJ” Campione II and wife Diana of Morgantown, Angela Campione and partner Scott Erickson of Top Sail Island, N.C., Ryan Campione of Morgantown, and Krista Campione of Morgantown. Sarah is also survived by brothers, Sam (Maxine) Reppy of Niles, Ohio, and Henry (Helen) Reppy of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister, Nellie Squarcette of Morgantown; and a sister-in-law, Louise Reppy of Morgantown.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Angelo Campione in 1984, and a brother, Phillip Reppy.
Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home, 801 Fairmont Ave., Fairmont, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Friday. Saturday visitation will be from 9-10:45 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church on Maryland Avenue where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. with Fr. William J. Kuchinsky as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
A vigil service led by Sister Stella Cronauer will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank the Evergreen Assisted Living Home staff for their compassionate care over the past several years. They became her surrogate family providing her with kind-hearted care and support. Hospice of Morgantown for assisting with her care and their dedication to preserving her personal pride and dignity during her final years was very appreciated.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Morgantown or the West Virginia University State of Minds campaign for continued research in finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
