Harry C. Adams Jr., 76, of Fairmont, passed away at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown with his family at his side after a short illness.
He was born May 1, 1936, in Fairmont, son of the late Harry Chester Adams Sr. and Blanche (Shackelford) Adams.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Antoinette (Mezzanotte) Adams; three children, Harry C. Adams III and wife Monica (Snider) Adams, Charles R. Adams, and Kathy (Adams) Bray and husband Keith Bray, all of Fairmont; and four grandchildren, Carrie M. (Bray) Keener and husband Camden, Rachael Jo Adams, Ashley Adams and Brittany Adams.
Harry served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years as a logistics and management supervisor. His family traveled with him in the United States and overseas when permitted.
After his retirement from the Air Force, Harry was employed with FMC Mining Equipment Division as an industrial engineering technician for eight years. He worked for the Fairmont Job Service Office for 14 years, first with the Disabled Veterans Outreach Program representative and later as an employer relations representative.
Harry completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fairmont State College. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Fairmont No. 19, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 629, Fairmont, the Grand Lodge 240 Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, and 32nd degree in the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of Shreveport, La.
Harry left behind some very special friends he made over the years. He was always willing to help someone in need. He loved all animals, but especially his loyal German Shepard, “Tesh.”
