FAIRMONT —
Dortha Jane Drake, 73, of Fairmont (Rivesville Community), passed away early Tuesday morning (Jan. 8, 2013) in Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born Oct. 25, 1939, in Rivesville, daughter of the late Walter and Emma Rice Moore.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Drake, who died in 2007. Mrs. Drake was a Methodist by faith.
She was a graduate of Rivesville High School. She spent more than 20 years in the Chicago area as a housewife and mother of four children. She also was an avid gardener, very active in crafts and enjoyed reading.
Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Donna and Ed Guerrero of Mikilteo, Wash., Sandra and Vic Jaynes of Lafarge, Wis., and Mary and Bob Taylor of Reedsville; a son and his wife, Walter and Connie Shaw of Genoa, Ill.; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Amanda and Derek Bell of Kingwood, Chris and Carmen Jaynes of Wisconsin, Emily and Lance Oium of Wisconsin, Leah Jaynes of Wisconsin, and Jacob, Joshua and Jonah Guerrero of Washington; three great-grandchildren, Logan, Scarlet, and Sawyer; a brother, Clyde Moore of Rivesville; a sister, Hazel Metz of Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil and Russell Moore.
Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, Jasper Street, Rivesville, from noon until 1 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Stanley Merrifield officiating. Burial will follow in McCurdysville Cemetery in McCurdysville.
