Doris Lewellen Bush, 90, of Fairmont, passed away Thursday (Nov. 29, 2012) at the St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah.
She was born April 13, 1922, in Masontown, Pa., a daughter of the late Paul P. and Bernice Ball Lewellen. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Bush.
Doris was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg, as well as a graduate of Fairmont General Hospital Registered Nursing Program. Doris retired in 1981 from Owens-Illinois Co. of Fairmont, with more than 37 years of service as the company nurse.
Doris was a past member of Diamond Temple United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Over the years she served as a member of the United Methodist Women, as well as a member of the administrative board and the finance committee. She was the church treasurer for 15 years and helped found the church blood pressure clinic. She was also a member of the Quilters Group of the church. Doris was currently a member of LIFE United Methodist Church, Faith Campus, in Fairmont. She previously enjoyed volunteering monthly with the Red Cross as a nurse on Blood Donor Day.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul P. Lewellen Jr.
Friends of Doris would like to thank the staff of St. Barbara’s Nursing Home for their loving care they provided Doris over the last several years.
A graveside service will be held at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Morgantown at 2 p.m. today with Rev. Clyde Beard officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery.
