Rayanna Huffman, 81, passed away Sunday (Nov. 25, 2012) at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown.
She was born May 7, 1931, daughter of the late Joseph H. and Hilda E. Hughes Anderson. Her husband, Lonnie Lee Huffman, preceded her in death in 2009.
“Ray” lived her life in White Hall. She retired as a secretary from Fairmont Westinghouse Corp. after 38 years of service. She enjoyed football, basketball and baseball, attending many college sporting events as well as area high school and Little League games. Most any warm summer evening, you might find her on the back patio watching her favorite sporting event on TV. Affectionately known as “Nan” by her family and friends, she loved the outdoors, whether it be camping, boating or just taking a long walk. She and her late husband, Lonnie, made dancing very special, be it square dance or rock ’n’ roll.
“Ray” is survived by her daughter, Diana “De” Shaffer and her husband Terry of Morgantown. “Nan” will be sorely missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Craig Shaffer and daughter Addisyn of Morgantown, Terry Shaffer II of Morgantown, and Jennifer Shaffer and son Oakley of Nashville, Tenn.
She is also survived by her brother, Joseph C. and his wife Carol Anderson of Pinnacle, N.C.; sisters-in-law, Helen Reese of Boothsville, Harriett Toothman of Bunner Ridge and Betty Huffman of Fairmont; a brother-in-law, Eugene and wife Johnnie of Camarillo, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Charles Lambiotte.
Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. Wednesday, with funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor David Richards officiating. Interment will follow the service at Bridgeport Cemetery.
