John Pastis

Mr. John James Pastis, 87 years of age, of Route 3, Bridgeport, died Wednesday (Feb. 6, 2013) at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport.

He was born Jan. 10, 1926 in Clarksburg, the son of the late James John and Mary Honce Pastis.

Mr. Pastis is survived by his wife, Catherine Simons Pastis. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage. Also surviving are an aunt, Pola Honce of Bridgeport; a brother-in-law, Charles W. Simons and his wife Betty Jo of Buckhannon; several nieces and nephews; and several cousins, including James Honce and his wife Jody of Bridgeport.

He retired from SCORE as a sales representative and was a member of Eldora United Methodist Church. His hobbies included golfing and growing plants and flowers. He loved spending the day with his wife, and together they enjoyed the outdoors and their animals. He was a blessing and a wonderful husband to Catherine.

Mr. Pastis was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Friends will be received at Ford Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Bridgeport, from 1-4 p.m. Sunday. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Dr. Michael Richards presiding. The interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown. The U.S. Navy Honor Guard and the Harrison County Honor Guard will provide full military rites.

The Pastis family has entrusted the care and arrangements to Ford Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Bridgeport.
