Gary Lantz

Gary T. Lantz, 71, of Route 4 (Lost Run Community), Grafton, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 30, 2013) at his residence.

He was born Feb. 14, 1941 in Flemington, a son of the late Sydney A. Lantz and Helen G. (Whitehair) Lantz.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Wanda June (Sheppard) Lantz; five children, Tim Wilson and wife Faye of Grafton, Tammy Barcus and husband Joe of Grafton, Kevin Wilson and companion David Dille of Blacksville, Kelley Lantz of Grafton, and Ben Lantz and wife Kristy, also of Grafton; 13 grandchildren, Rachel Hayhurst, Shannon Wilson, Michael Barcus and wife Danielle, Buddy Barcus and wife Rachael, Krista Barcus, Nicky Osbourne, Amber Swisher, Morgan, Maddison and Marti Lantz, Sean Trickett, Cam Simmons and Kelsey Cheshire; seven great-grandchildren, Garrett, Levi, Braylon, Tucker, Briella, Laylen and Remington; one brother, Sidney M. Lantz and wife Lynda of Grafton; two sisters, Sara Ann Nedorolik and husband Charles of Manasses, Va., and Gloria Jean McCloy and husband Bill of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Richard “Rick” Lantz.

Gary served in the U.S. Navy as a machinist’s mate. He was also a farmer, machinist, truck driver and caretaker of Harmony Grove Cemetery. He enjoyed his grandchildren, college football, basketball and NASCAR racing.

He attended Harmony Grove Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends at Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton from 4-8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Jim Baker officiating.
